06/25/2008 - Youth Track 6.0, Build 6.068 Update Released!
We discovered an intermittent problem when working with the Programs feature that was caused by a change made in the last update. We finally discovered what was causing the problem and it has been resolved. Even though we're not quite finished with the updated Help System, we felt like we needed to go ahead and get this released since we had customers needing this fix quickly.
See the Youth Track 6.0 Update History for more details. This latest build can be downloaded by all Youth Track 6.0 customers who have access to their downloads list within their on-line account. Logon to your on-line account to check the status of your downloads list access within the Current Subscriptions box (you may have to scroll down a bit) within your Account Summary page. This build will require an uninstall of the previous Youth Track 6 installation before installing this new build.
All of the new and updated features will be explained in the updated Help System we are currently working on. We are almost finished with the last remaining topics and screens shot replacements. We are updating over 3,000 screen shots in the Help System to show the screens as they appear in Vista to make all the screen shots uniform. Plus, we will be updating some things that have changed and add instructions for the new additions. Just as soon as we finish the Help System update, we will be releasing an update build which may also include some additional features as well.
While all this is going on, we are still making efforts to finish up the client/server (SQL Server) version of Youth Track once we get settled in our new office. This was shelved for a period of time (see the 02/04/2008 announcement below) due to circumstances beyond our control, but will soon be back on it again. So, don't give up on us yet! We want to make the capability for you to access your Youth Track database anywhere you have an internet connection a reality soon. I appreciate your prayers and your patience during this difficult time. Just a quick update. Julie and I have relocated to the Oklahoma City area from Texas and I have finally found full-time employment with a great company. I should be settled in enough by the middle of July 2008 to where I can start getting back to Youth Track development where I left off before the news in January turned our world upside down. I appreciate very much for the prayers extended on our behalf while we continue to settle. It looks like we are finally turning the corner on this very difficult situation.
02/04/2008 - Update Regarding the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade
As many of you know, Youth Track 6.5 has been delayed at least a couple of times. The last time the 6.5 upgrade was delayed was when it was decided to remove the current database engine and replace it with a client/server database (Microsoft SQL Server 2005). I have learned one very important lesson. Never announce a new product or upgrade until that product or upgrade is at least in beta testing just before the actual release date. The replacement of the database engine has been a much tougher job than I had anticipated. Since I work a full-time job and work on Youth Track when I have extra time after my regular work day, this has even made it more difficult to get this completed in the timeframe I had promised. I apologize for my lack of foresight.
Unfortunately, at this time, I can not in all fairness give you a release date. As many of you know, this is a part-time family venture. In January 2008, I was told that my current full-time position would end February 2008. Due to having to now focus my energies on seeking full-time employment to provide for my family, I will be unable to devote the time I had allocated to the continued development of Youth Track 6.5 until we've crossed this hurdle.
To those of you who have stuck with us through all these difficult times, we thank you. We continue to covet your prayers for our family and the direction that God has for Youth Track.
04/26/2007 - The Youth Track Subscription Service is Back!
By popular demand, the Youth Track Subscription Service has been reinstated. Many of our customers liked the idea of the Subscription Service and were disappointed when we dropped it in July of 2006. Well, we hear you and the Subscription Service is back. The only change is we decreased the number of minimum updates that include brand new or enhanced features from four per year to two per year to make the updates more manageable. This will still be a great bargain at $35 per update based on two updates per year (which is the minimum) with the annual cost being $70. In addition, there may be times when we may release more than two updates per year which makes this even a better bargain. SPECIAL NOTE: When we dropped the Subscription Service in July of 2006, we replaced the Subscription Service with a pre-order to the next major upgrade of Youth Track, version 6.5. Since we are running behind on the release of Youth Track 6.5, we are going to extend the Subscription Service expiration date for all customers who ordered the Youth Track 6.5 Pre-Order to one year from their current expiration date. This will include all customers who purchased the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade Pre-Order between 07/01/2006 and 02/15/2007. Remember, as long as you have an active Subscription Service, you can download all Youth Track 6.x updates or upgrades. This will accomplish two things:
- Make sure when the next major upgrade (Youth Track 6.5) is released, everyone who ordered this upgrade between 07/01/2006 and 02/15/2007 will have an active Subscription Service to be able to download this major upgrade once it has been released.
- To say "Thank You" to all of our customers who ordered the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade Pre-Order for your patience. We had hoped to have Youth Track 6.5 ready by 02/15/2007. However, at the last minute, we decided we really wanted to do something with this upgrade that will provide the type of database that can be accessed anywhere you have an internet connection. This involves tearing out the old database engine and adding a new client-server database engine (don't worry, ALL of your data will transfer to the new database engine). We are hoping it will be worth the wait!
Tonight (04/26/2007), one year will be added to all Subscription Service expiration dates for all customers who ordered the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade Pre-Order between 07/01/2006 and 02/15/2007. So, as an example, if you ordered the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade Pre-Order on 08/15/2006, your expiration was set to 08/15/2007 at that time. After the expiration update tonight, your new expiration date will be 08/15/2008 making sure your Subscription Service will be active once the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade has been released. Then you will have access to your downloads list within your on-line account to be able to download this upgrade. The new target release date for the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade is sometime around the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2007.
The reason why this date range was chosen was because we dropped the Subscription Service in July 2006 and started selling the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade Pre-Order. The cut off date of 02/15/2007 will be used because the Youth Track 6.5 Upgrade was supposed to be released by that date.
